Northern Dalmatia is quite rightly one of the most popular holiday destinations in Croatia. The largest city in Northern Dalmatia is Zadar, the administrative seat of Zadar County (Croatian: Zadarska županija). Zadar, the 3,000-year-old city, has around 75000 inhabitants and is the second largest city in the Dalmatia region after Split. The old city center and the center are on a peninsula. Zadar is well connected: buses, planes and ferries connect the city with the surrounding area and with other countries. The airport is 8 km from the city center.

The romantic old town of Zadar has cultural highlights that are really worth seeing. For lovers of art, architecture and history, Zadar is a real paradise. Visitors will be amazed with numerous historical buildings. Many impressive buildings, churches, monuments and museums bear witness to the different eras that the city of Zadar experienced: the Church of St. Donat, the Roman Forum, the Church and Monastery of Saint Mary, the Old City Gate, the Franciscan Monastery, the Cathedral of Saint Anastasia, the Museum of Ancient Glass, the Square of the 5 Wells, the Narodni trg (People’s Square) and much more. The Sea organ and the Sun salutation are particularly worth seeing.

Tourists will certainly appreciate the proximity of three national parks: Kornati Islands, Krka Waterfalls and Paklenica in the Velebit mountain range near the coastal town of Starigrad Paklenica. The islands of Ugljan, Pašman, Dugi otok and the Telašćica Nature Park in Northern Dalmatia offer crystal clear seas and beautiful hidden bays that one lifetime is not enough to discover them all. These islands with untouched nature are ideal for holidaymakers who want to enjoy beautiful places without the hustle and bustle.
